Rdio, one of the more popular streaming music services out there, just announced a new tier of service. For $5.99 a month, you can listen to unlimited ad-free radio on your mobile device, plus 25 on-demand downloads that you can listen to offline.
The streaming radio is the main feature of the new service, called Rdio Select, but the offline songs is a nice touch. You can keep up to 25 songs on your phone at any time, with new downloads replacing old ones. You can replace all 25 songs up to once per day.
You’ll also get everything in higher quality 320kbps bitrate. Desktop users will still have ads, though Rdio Select will soon be coming to other devices like the Roku and Sonos.
Check out the full blog post over at Rdio for more information. There’s a 60-day free trial available.

I like idea of this but the AU tax seems a little high on this one. This same service is $US4 in America.
Come on dude, even with the dollar at a high 81c and the addition of GST gets you up to $5.50. There’s no Australia Tax here.
Are they charging GST? Wouldn’t this be like Netflix where we don’t pay GST?
When the government’s Netflix tax kicks in, this will jump to $6.60.
Difference of $1
When you earn half of what you do now then feel free to keep spouting about the ‘Australia Tax’. Until then, Australia and America don’t even have close to the same economy.
Australian wages are MUCH higher so the spend is actually less en Australia than the USA for this service, meaning that Aussies work less hours to afford it. The ‘Australia Tax’ bandwagon that you’ve jumped onto in this case is actually almost better described as an ‘Australua Bonus’.
I’m not trying to make your comment look stupid, just trying to help you understand that a catchphrase isn’t always true and educate you to help you NOT look stupid in the future.
