Google Fit Adds Distance Tracking, Calorie Estimates

Google Fit Adds Distance Tracking, Calorie Estimates

Android: Google’s foray into fitness tracking hasn’t changed the industry, but if you’ve ever wanted to wade into the self-tracking waters without buying extra gear, it’s helpful. It’s also getting better, with distance travelled measurements and estimates of how many calories you’ve burned.

The app now translates how many steps you’ve taken into distance travelled. You can also see an estimate of how many calories you’ve burned if you add in your height and weight information. The new version comes with a few other updates, including day, week and month views for your data, plus a new home screen widget. There’s even a custom Android Wear watch face that permanently displays your activity, if you’re into that sort of thing.
