Get A Perfect Start To Your Day By Creating A ‘Wake Up Happier’ Spot

Your mornings don’t have to be disastrous, stress-filled affairs. You can create a “wake up happier” spot in your home to make mornings as calm or as exciting as you need them to be for a good boost to your mood.

You know the drill: wake up, rush through your routine, worry about breakfast, stress about work, and get out the door. Adrienne Breaux at Apartment Therapy suggests there’s a better way to start your day, and it’s with a “wake up happier” spot:

…use your home to create a tiny little spot you can go to right as you wake up that has all the tools you need and is styled in a way that instantly puts a smile on your face first thing in the morning. It doesn’t have to be a big spot or terribly complicated; you’re just looking for a little piece of real estate to makeover into the perfect morning wake-up call, filled with your favourite things and so cheery it can make even a grey day seem full of positive potential.

Identify what a “happier” morning would mean for you. Maybe it’s exercise, or reading the news, or even playing a game. Have your spot set up every night before you go to bed and head there first thing in the morning so you gradually wake up to good things and not stressful things. If you don’t have time, speed up your grooming process or wake up a little earlier to give yourself time. Isn’t waking up a lot happier better than sleeping in just a little longer?
