Build A Woodworkers Workbench That Can Handle Any Project

A standard workbench is simply a sturdy table, but a true woodworking workbench is built to secure wood of various sizes so you can saw, drill and sand your project without it moving.

This DIY woodworking workbench is built from construction-grade wood using basic joints. It’s designed to be heavy enough to not move from under you as you work, and stiff enough to handle the weight and clamping forces you’ll exert on it.

A true woodworkers bench, like this one, will incorporate a number of different work holding mechanisms, including bench dogs, planing stops, hold fasts, or board jacks, and will have one or more woodworker’s vices built into its structure.

The design is based on this video from Start Woodworking, which is derived from a plan in the book, Making Workbenches by Sam Allen.

All of the materials required can be purchased at your local hardware store. At a minimum the tools required include a drill, circular saw and handheld router, as well as a few jigs, fixtures and specialised bits. Check out the Instructable below for the complete instructions, cut list, and hardware needed.
