Optus has signed up as Microsoft’s first Cloud OS Network partner, meaning it can sell enterprise customers a mixture of Azure-based services and on-premises implementations. Private cloud ahoy!
In technical terms, there’s nothing to stop you signing up for Azure and performing integrations with existing on-premises Windows licences yourself. One obvious advantage of farming that work out to a partner is there’s someone else to swear at when the configuration files don’t do quite what they expect to.
