We know lots of Australians are still annoyed that they can’t go back to the halcyon days of Game Of Thrones Season 3, when episodes went on sale on iTunes straight after broadcast. But at least this year you won’t have to wait too long to get those official digital copies of Season 5 if you want them.
Apple is offering an iTunes pre-order for the whole of Season 5, and says all episodes will become available on June 16. That’s also the date that episode 10, the final one for this current season, is first broadcast in Australia. The SD season pass is $27.99, the HD version costs $32.99.
Last year, iTunes didn’t begin selling Season 4 until July, more than a month after broadcast finished and well behind when Google Play was offering it. Right now, there’s no sign of Season 5 on Google Play yet, but that could well change before June.
If you can’t wait that long, check out our guide to the cheapest legal ways to watch Season 5. If you’re a fan of physical media, past experience suggests you won’t see DVD or Blu-ray releases until early 2016.

Yeah except we shouldn’t have to wait at all.
Yup – this is how I’ll be getting my GoT fix this year. Normally I’d download as it’s aired and then buy the Blurays. But with all the hoohaa going on right now I figure I’ll just buy a digital copy and leave it at that.
Ditto, 10 weeks isn’t really too long of a wait. Netflix & Stan are keeping me occupied anyway.
That’s cool – people can make a game of avoiding spoilers from friends/co-workers all season.
Do these companies still wonder why people pirate, or do they just not care?
I purchased our Season Pass yesterday, but we are still going to download each episode.
Screw you Fuxtel!
