iOS/Android: By now, you probably know that most expiration dates on food products are hogwash. They’re more about marketing than how long it actually takes food to perish. The USDA makes it really easy to look up the true expiration dates of food.
It recently released its “FoodKeeper” app. We’ve told you about similar web app EatByDate and StillTasty. Both are great for tracking the true expiration dates of a number of food items. But much of their information comes from the USDA anyway. Plus, FoodKeeper will also send you reminders when stuff goes bad.
You can look up expiration dates of foods based on how they’re stored, and the app will also give you general cooking information. You can search for an item directly or browse by category.

Would have been nice if they at least added F to C conversions (for the rest of the world)
Simple way to convert F to C: subtract 30 and divide by 2 = will be close enough for cooking purposes.
