Ulysses Is A Powerful But Simple Text Editor For iPad

iPad: Ulysses is one of our favourite writing apps on the Mac and it’s now available for the iPad as well. And happily, the iPad version is just as powerful as the Mac app.

Ulysses takes an approach similar to software like Scrivener, but simplifies and cleans things up a bit. If you’ve used Ulysses for Mac, you’ll immediately recognise the iPad version. It has the same three-pane setup where you can organise your writing into different sections, but features plenty of distraction-free writing modes as well. It also has a button row to easily format text and a handy info bar to see different stats. While you’ll do your writing with Markdown, it supports exporting to every file format you can imagine.

Essentially, this is the Mac version on your iPad, and it’s just as easy to use. There’s no extra fluff here — Ulysses is about writing and the iPad gets you there as quickly as possible. Most importantly though, Ulysses for iPad syncs up with the recently updated Mac app as well. It’s a bit pricey at $24.99, but if you’re a fan of the Mac app, it’s worth the price to take your writing anywhere.
