Atari Fit Takes Gamification To The Retro Level

iOS/Android: There’s nothing new in taking gamification to fitness. So how about some retro gamification instead?

That’s presumably the thinking behind Atari Fit, an IAP-supported free smartphone app that challenges you to perform various fitness tasks, claiming over 100 available exercises. So far, so plain, but the purported hook here is that playing earns you coins that can be used to play a number of classic Atari games, including Centipede, Pong and Super Breakout.

I’m on something of a fitness kick myself at the moment, and would be all over this were it not for the fact that the current holders of the Atari name are being more than a bit obtuse with regards to the rights for another classic game, Tempest, threatening to sue Llamasoft’s Jeff “Yak” Minter, which rather puts me off.

If you’re still keen, it’s available for iOS and Android.
