So here’s the key news from today’s Windows 10 media briefing: existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Phone customers will be able to upgrade for free.
Executive vice president Terry Myerson announced the upgrade plan during the Seattle briefing, saying that the current fragmentation of Windows users across multiple versions was a challenge for developers. The free upgrade will apply for a year from when Windows 10 launches, and will run for the life of the product. For all the Windows 10 news from today, check our full report.
