Your thoughts may seem harmless, but over time, they affect how you feel. You can’t immediately change your emotions, but you can gradually shift them. Calm your negative emotions. Think thoughts that feed your positive side.

Here’s what an old Native American proverb says about positive and negative emotions, and how they affect our self-control:

The native american grandfather tells his grandson that there are two wolves inside of him, fighting for control. One wolf, is the wolf of love, peace and kindness. The other wolf is a wolf of greed, hatred and corruption.

The grandson asks “Which wolf will win?”

The grandfather replies, “Whichever wolf I feed.”

You’re not the only one feeding your thoughts. Consider what media feeds us, and be wary of what you consume (for example, too much news and you might feel fearful or outraged, too many rom coms and you’ll be disconnected from reality).
