Reader Jayesh wanted a desktop that was playful, but also helped him get things done. He took his love of Limbo (the game, not the theological concept) and put together this desktop, symbolising the struggle to get things done while simultaneously putting all his tools at his fingertips.
If you like this design, you’ll need these elements to replicate it:
- The Limbo wallpaper from DeviantArt;
- The Rainmeter system tweaking and monitoring tool for Windows;
- The Enigma suite for Rainmeter to create the sections for notes, tasks, the Gmail reader and the Chrome icon;
- The Encoded skin for Rainmeter for the date and time display;
- The Omnimo skin for Rainmeter for the search bar — one that can be toggled between Google, Wikipedia, Wolfram Alpha and others by keyboard shortcut;
- ObjectDock with the Smoke background as an application launcher (although we’re sure you could do something similar with RocketDock);
- The Ecqlipse 2 Icon Pack to change the dock icons.
You can see more shots of the desktop in action at Jayesh’s Kinja blog, linked below.
