Stick To Your Goals With Automated Reminders

Sometimes, we lose sight of a goal because it’s not in the forefront of our minds, like making an impulse purchase when we planned to save. Create reminders that keep your goals fresh in your mind, and then automate them so you don’t even have to try to remember.

There are plenty of reasons you might have trouble sticking with a goal, but LJ Earnest of the Simple Productivity Blog suggests one simple reason: We have so much going on that our goals are pushed to the back of our minds. As soon as they’re no longer in front of us, we just forget them, plain and simple. If you have a goal you want to stick to, find a way to keep it in the forefront of your mind, and you’ll stand a much better chance of achieving it.

You can even automate this so you don’t have to put energy just into remembering. For example: set a location-based reminder with Google Now to watch your spending when you arrive at the supermarket or shopping centre, or place a sticky note on your workstation to remind you of the promotion you’re working towards.

Doing this forces you to think about the future of your decisions, rather than look back on them in retrospect because you let a goal slip your mind in the moment.
