Ask Your Friends What You Should Do With Your Life

It’s easy to get stuck when making a big decision, like what you want to do with your life. Remember, you’re surrounded by people who know your skills, character and the value you bring to others. Ask them what to do, or what value you bring, to help you figure it out.

This tip is from a Gumroad exercise that focuses on the power of the question “why”. The idea is that if you understand what your friends find valuable about you, then you’ll gain some insight on why a business would want to hire you, presumably for those same values (if not the skills that go along with them.)

So first, make a list of your closest friends. Ask them why they’re friends with you, then clarify and compare the answers. If you started out having little to no idea what you have to offer to the world, the exercise will help you discover it.
