Throughout this week, we’re announcing the winners for the 2014 Lifehacker Awards. This morning: who gets the gong for Best Social Network?
Readers’ Choice: Facebook
I guess size tells: this was a closely-fought battle, but Facebook ultimately took the winning position. What’s perhaps more surprising is the option in second place: Google+. Yes, really.
Editor’s Pick:
Twitter did lots of interesting stuff this year, from opening up its archives and partnering with IBM to launching its Digits platform and adding support for animated GIFs. Not bad for a platform that remains, at core, a way of sharing brief messages.
Thanks everyone for voting! Keep checking back throughout the week for more winners.

This is a tough one. The best social network is usually the one all your friends are on, which Facebook more or less wins by default.
From a functionality point of view, I really like Google+ – it’s just a shame no one uses it…
