Lifehacker Awards 2014: Best Cloud Computing Provider

Throughout this week, we’ll be announcing the winners in the 2014 Lifehacker Awards. Today’s first category is best cloud computing provider, and the winner is. . .

Readers’ Choice: Google

Google has quite a comfortable majority of the votes for this category. Undoubtedly some of those reflected Google’s broader range of services rather than its specific cloud platform for computing tasks, but it’s a reminder that not everyone is concerned about where their cloud platform is located (Google doesn’t give you any real control over that option).

Editor’s Pick: Azure

Unquestionably the biggest development in local cloud services during the year was the launch of Azure’s long-awaited Sydney and Melbourne data centres. We expect competition between AWS and Azure to continue as a dominant theme in 2015.

Thanks everyone for voting! Keep checking back throughout the week for more winners.
