Chubby dogs, although adorable, may not be as healthy as they can be. If you feel like both you and your dog need to shed some weight, your love for your pet can be the motivation you need to exercise more.

Although love and concern for a dog can be a powerful motivation, you shouldn’t adopt a dog just to motivate yourself to exercise. You can get off a treadmill when you want to stop working out, but you can’t abandon your dog. On the other hand, a treadmill would never share the same joy a dog would while exercising with you.
