'It's Good To Be Uncomfortable'

Nobody really likes to be uncomfortable, but it's a necessity for creative living. As animator Mark Phillips reminds us, when you get comfortable, you stop creating new things.

Phillips talks a bit about working a 9-5 and the niceties of getting the pats on the back in that type of position. But he also points out that when you get too comfortable, you stop creating anything meaningful. We've talked about breaking out of your comfort zone before, and the same holds true here. Remember, it might not be awesome at the time, but it's good to be uncomfortable sometimes.

Several weeks ago, on lifehacker, a link was posted with quotes from another cartoonist (arguably a more famous one) which may seem to disagree with this guy

    http://web.mit.edu/jmorzins/www/C-H-speech.html

"You'll be told in a hundred ways, some subtle and some not, to keep climbing, and never be satisfied with where you are, who you are, and what you're doing. There are a million ways to sell yourself out, and I guarantee you'll hear about them." - Bill Watterson

I think creativity is less about being uncomfortable, and more about staying curious.
