Adam Savage is a well known for his skills as a maker. He reminds us that making stuff is one of the most rewarding experiences we can have.
Speaking with Inquiring Minds, Savage talks about bonding with someone by sitting down and making something, which we paraphrased above:
There’s that human desire to tinker… Using [your hands] must be a deep release of important chemicals that make us feel like we’re fulfilling our purpose. Tinkering, for me, makes me feel like I’m fulfilling a deeply biological purpose.
It’s easy to get lost with work, life, and whatever else, but sometimes, if you really want to bond with someone, tinkering is the best way to do it.
