Dealhacker: Make Free International Calls On Vodafone This Weekend

Do you have a few far-flung relatives around the globe that you haven’t been in touch with for a while? If you’re a Vodafone customer, you can make free international calls this weekend in a bid to lessen your guilt. (The catch is that only 10 overseas locations are covered.)

To celebrate its 21st anniversary in Australia, Vodafone is offering post- and prepaid customers free standard international phone calls this weekend. According to Vodafone’s own research data, around 40 per cent of its customers were born overseas.

The deal covers any standard landline or mobile call to China, India, USA, UK, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and South Korea. Handily, there’s no limit to the number or length of the calls you make during the promotional period.

The only caveat is that calls must be for personal use only. Vodafone’s Fair Use Policy also applies, which basically means it can revoke your rights to the promotion if it feels your usage has been unreasonable. (A 48-hour chat marathon is probably best avoided.)

The deal is only available to existing customers, although anyone who joins up before 19 October can still access the free call offer. The deal begins 12:01am AEDT on Saturday 18 October and end 11:59pm on Sunday 19 October.
