Ask LH: How Can I Add Lyrics To My iPod?

Dear Lifehacker, I was adding some new songs to my iPod, and was wondering if there was an easier way to add song lyrics to all my songs (so that i can sing along on my iPod later) rather than the traditional copy and paste method. Any options on Windows or Mac? Thanks, Lacks Lyrics

Dear LL,

Mass capture of lyrics for this purpose sometimes runs afoul of copyright law — all those sites of lyrics databases are treading a very fine line most of the time — but there are a few tools that you can use to make your lyrics search a little easier.

You haven’t specified which model iPod you’re using, but if it is in fact an iPod Touch (or indeed an iPhone), then there are a number of applications such as LyricFind that work within the device itself if it’s app-capable.

There are also a number of applications that promise easy lyric finding and importation into iTunes, such as MiniLyrics, Song Genie and Get Lyrical, although as with any lyrics search, your success rate may vary depending on the relative obscurity of your musical tastes and the accuracy of the databases they ping for information.

Any readers have favourite applications or approaches to this problem?

Cheers
