This DIY Keyring Stand Props Up Your Smartphone Or Tablet

Instead of a funky keyring fob that makes a statement, build a DIY fob that doubles up as a stand for a smartphone or tablet. It costs very little and you’ll be done in no time.

Normally, our advice is to minimize your keyring, but Instructables user aescobar ortega’s keyring stand was too cool to pass up. All you’ll need is cardboard, a similar piece of thin wood (ortega used balsa tree wood because it’s light, soft and easy to work with), and some tools. The cardboard and wood are stuck together, then thinly cut in the centre so it bends. A few more cuts, a hole for the ring, some finishing touches and you’ll have a fold-out stand as your keychain.

It’s quite similar to the super-quick cardboard phone stand, but a little sturdier because of the added wood. Check out ortega’s full post for the dimensions and step-by-step instructions.
