iOS: Need a place to work from — that’s not your company office or home? Cubefree aims to take the pain out of finding a suitable spot, whether it’s a cafe, library or coworking space nearby.
Sometimes you might want a library instead of a cafe for the quiet. Other times you might prefer the coffee shop’s creative buzz. Or you might head to a coworking or shared space for the collaboration.
So Cubefree, from Citrix, first asks you in the app what kind of place you’d like to work in today and then highlights them on the map, complete with reviews (drawn from Foursquare) and details about power, Wi-Fi strength and parking. If you’ve ever worked remotely from these kinds of places, you’ll know the experience can vary quite a bit.
The app can also connect you to others in the same spot and comes with other Citrix resources built-in, like GoToMeeting and ShareFile.
How well the app would work for you might depend on where you live. It could be really useful in cafe-crowded major cities, for example, but less so in suburban or rural areas. Worth a look, though, if you often remotely work out of a “third place.”
