The pricing calculations are based on booking data from Agoda.com. While some times of year are cheaper worldwide — the study singles out January as an example — there are widespread variations throughout the year. Sydney is the sole Australian city on the list: it’s cheapest in April, and most expensive in October and November.

The table doesn’t line up with the chart. In the table, Sydney shows as cheap in October and November, yet the chart shows it as expensive for the same months.
