If you have an ordinary shelf in your bedroom or closet, and you want it to pull double-duty as one you can also hang clothes from, a little PVC piping is all it takes to do the job. The folks from The Family Handyman show us how it’s done.
Pre-drill a measured length of plastic or PVC pipe, then screw it into the top of the shelf. You’ll find it’s just the right height for a coat hanger to fit over comfortably, and if you use a screw with a decorative or raised top, you can even create natural “bookends” for your hanging rack so hangers don’t slide off either end. It’s a simple project that can give your closet some much-needed storage space.
