Fondant icing is the ingredient cake artists use to create their masterpieces. Supermarkets don’t always carry it, though. Use some marshmallows and jelly and make your own instead.
Marshmallow fondant is a common replacement for the pre-made version. Most bakers add extracts for flavour and food colouring for colour. If you substitute jelly crystals for these extras, you get flavour and colour in one step. It’s cheap and easy to use and requires less cleanup than mixing in colours and flavorings in two steps.

A pity though that it is next to impossible to find plain marshmallows. Nearly all the packets i find are usually mixed in with raspberry ones.
