Google Maps Adds Biking Elevation, Voice In Navigation Mode

Google Maps Adds Biking Elevation, Voice In Navigation Mode

Android: Google updated its Maps app with a bunch of new features today, including elevation for bicycle directions, voice actions in navigation mode, and a slide-out menu for Your Places.

Android Police describes the new features in more detail, but here’s a quick rundown of what’s new:

  • Voice actions in navigation mode (how long until destination, show traffic)
  • Bicycle directions show elevation, including elevation comparison for multiple routes (less climbing!)
  • Your Places now appears in slide-out nav menu.
  • Voice icon replaces the “person” in search bar that used to load Places.
  • Uber card now shown in the car tab of navigation instead of just public transportation and walking.
  • ETA no longer in bold type.

Google will start to roll out the update over the next couple of days, but if you don’t want to wait for it to push to your device, you can download the APK now or try to update from the Google Play Store.
