Get Facebook Notifications Without The Mobile App Using IFTTT

Android: You can use Facebook’s mobile website than the official app for better battery, faster performance and to get rid of all the privacy permissions the app needs. But it doesn’t give you notifications. IFTTT for Android can solve that.

It’s easy to set up too. Naturally, you’ll need an IFTTT account, the Android app and a Facebook account before you start. Then:

  1. Go to your Facebook notifications page and click “RSS” under the option for “Get notifications via”.
  2. Copy the contents of the URL bar.
  3. Go to this Facebook notifications to Android recipe on IFTTT, replace the “Feed URL” part with what you copied, and click “Use Recipe”.

That’s it! Your Android app will start showing Facebook updates in your notifications bar just like the official Facebook app does. This way, you can use the mobile site for a faster, privacy-friendly experience and still not miss out on anything.
