Banish Mouse Lag In Video Games With Microsoft’s ‘Fix It’ Tool

Banish Mouse Lag In Video Games With Microsoft’s ‘Fix It’ Tool

Windows 8: Is your mouse lagging in your favourite PC game? Microsoft has a free tool that can fix it for you.

Sometimes, Microsoft releases optional tools that you might not know about. If you’ve experienced mouse freezing or stuttering in games like the Call of Duty series, Half Life 2 or Portal, download Microsoft’s update 2903939.

If your game isn’t covered in the update, there’s an additional “Fix It” tool. After you’ve installed the update, point it to the executable game file and follow the instructions. Restart when you’re done, and it should be working fine the next time you run the game. We tried it with Prototype 2, and it fixed the game’s known mouse lag issue.

Microsoft notes that laptop users should apply this fix only if a game is facing a problem, otherwise it might affect your battery.
