The WinYosemite Desktop

The WinYosemite Desktop

Reader Saifali caught Apple’s unveiling of OS X “Yosemite” last week and wanted to bring at least some of the look to his Windows machine. The right wallpaper and a little Rainmeter is all it takes. Here’s how he set it up.

Here’s what you’ll need if you want to duplicate this on your Windows machine:

  • The Yosemite wallpaper
  • The Rainmeter system tweaking and monitoring tool for Windows
  • The Enigma skin for Rainmeter to create the right-side “notification center” sidebar, with Now Playing, system status, weather, and calendar widgets
  • The Portal 2 Desktop Theme for Rainmeter for the clock and date in the upper left corner

That’s all you’ll need. It’s simple and straightforward, and doesn’t take a lot of skins to customise. We think the finished product looks solid, but of course, if you have questions about how to set it up or how any of the components work, head over to Saifali’s Kinja blog to ask your questions or sing your praises.
