So everyone who was unhappy that they couldn’t buy Season 4 of Game of Thrones straight after broadcast can smile a little now. Following yesterday’s season finale, the full season is up on Google Play.
All 10 episodes will cost you $28.99, or you can pay $2.99 per single episode. No sign yet on iTunes, but we’re guessing that will happen soon enough. In the meantime, check out our roundup of the Season 4 highlights.

No new HBO shows have been added to iTunes for roughly the last 9 months, probably around when the Foxtel exclusivity deal began, so there’s no guarantee Game of Thrones S4 will show up there soon. Boardwalk Empire season 4, Treme season 4, and True Detective are all MIA on iTunes. I can’t imagine why HBO would leave them out and not Google Play, so maybe they’re miffed with the Foxtel deal, as Adam Turner suggested yesterday. Would be good to know more.
Also, does Google Play charge an extra 50c per ep for HD? It seems hard to tell without initiating a purchase. Their help page says HD is available, at least.
Indeed, Google Play is asking for $3.49 per episode in HD and $34.99 for the whole season.
Still, it’s cheaper than a Foxtel subscription.
Oh yeah, no complaints here. I was just curious if they were one-upping iTunes by not charging extra for HD.
Hi,
Are you able to download into your hard drive or portable hd the whole season of Game of Thrones after you pay for it or you need to have the chromecast so you can watch/stram it using your home wifi connectivity?
