Why You Need Windows In Your Office

No, this isn’t what you think. Research suggests that a windowless office can be bad for you: working in a space with no natural light means you’ll get less sleep at night.

Business Insider reports on a study by Northwestern University which found that people working in an office with natural light had 47 more minutes sleep per night than those who did not. While it was a small-scale study (with 27 windowless workers and 22 light lovers), that makes sense: we already know that artificial light late at night wrecks your sleep patterns.

You may not be able to tell your boss to find you somewhere to work other than your current window-free hell. But if you are stuck, make sure you venture outside for lunch.
