These DIY Lighted Bookshelves Look Great, Are Easy To Build

Leaning bookshelves can be handy space-savers that look great even in small spaces. This set of good-looking hand-built bookshelves also pack under-shelf lights to highlight whatever’s on the shelf below — plus, they’re easy to make.

Leaning bookshelves are easy to move, apartment-friendly, and don’t require too much construction to put together, and this set — even though they’re definitely a bit more complicated than what you might find at IKEA — definitely fit the bill. Instructables user Augurean built them, and provided the plans if you want to try it yourself.

You’ll need the wood sides and the shelves, some shelf support boards, steel corner brackets to connect it all together, and LED lighting strips (he chose IKEA Dioder) to go under each shelf. He also used some U-bend wiring pins to route the cables neatly out of sight.

The full walkthrough is over at Instructables, along with some great suggestions to improve on the build in the comments below his post.
