Improve Your Presentations And Public Speaking 60 Seconds At A Time

Most of us weren’t born orators and could use a little rehearsal to make speaking in public more natural and presentations less sucky. Andrew Ng, Coursera co-founder and Stanford professor, suggests doing deliberate practise sessions to get better at these highly useful skills.

In short, videotape yourself practising your speech, lecture or other public speaking event. Then select a 60-second portion of it you would like to improve, and record yourself doing it better. Wash, rinse and repeat.

Concentrate on those 60 seconds (and keep practising over a half-hour period) and you can hone in on the main presentation skills you want to improve.
