DIY Shower Cleaner Spray Makes Future Scrubbings Easy

DIY Shower Cleaner Spray Makes Future Scrubbings Easy

Cleaning the shower is one of those tasks that you know you should be doing more often than you are. The Prairie Homestead has come up with a DIY shower cleaner that slows down grime build-up, thus letting you take your time between cleanings.

Here’s what you need:

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1 teaspoon detergent
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • 15 drops melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil

Instructions:

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a quart-sized spray bottle.
  • Shake well, and spray onto shower surfaces every day after use.

As the author notes, this is a maintenance spray and not a cleaner. What that means is that it doesn’t do the job of removing gunk and grime, but it makes the build-up slower than usual. You will still need to clean every part of your shower periodically, whenever you see it needs a cleaning. It’s also recommended that you give your shower a thorough scrubbing before you start using the cleaner spray, as it works best if you begin with a clean bathroom.
