When Google first started selling Google Play gift cards in Australia last August, only Woolworths-owned outlets had them. 7-Eleven also subsequently started offering them, and now you can find them in more than a dozen different chains.
Ausdroid points out that Google’s official list of retailers offering the cards in Australia is now much more extensive:

Bought my first Google card in the USA before they were available here. When I bought another one here google won’t let me use it, wrong region and all that… Unable to sort it out, have you ever tried to contact google? Not a happy camper!
