LinkedIn Drops Support For Original iPad

Own an original iPad 1 and regularly use the LinkedIn app? From 18 February, you’re going to have to use the browser version instead — the career-oriented social network is ditching support for that version of its iOS app.

LinkedIn has emailed customers who installed the app on a version 1 iPad to tell them of the change.

This isn’t a surprising development — the original iPad can’t be upgraded to iOS 7, and Apple has been actively pushing developers to use the features available in that version. The browser version remains functional, so if you’re still rocking an original iPad and happy with it, it’s not a reason to switch. However, it is a change you can expect to see in many other apps, and one you’ll potentially need to explain to staff in a BYOD environment.
