Keep Your Blender Clean With Lemons

Is the glass on your blender looking cloudy and dirty? The Kitchn notes it may just be hard water build-up. That’s easily fixed with a little lemon.

Cleaning your blender carafe by blending a little dishwashing liquid and warm water is easy, but if you add a little coarsely chopped lemon to the mix, your blender will sparkle again:

I filled the blender halfway with warm water, a drop of dishwashing liquid, and a coarsely chopped lemon and ran the machine for about a minute. Voilà — my blender was sparkling again. One could also use white vinegar to cut through the scum, but I think a lemon smells better.

Emily Ho, the author of the piece linked below, explains that it was particularly good for her Vitamix, but the same trick should work for just about any blender. Next time you’re on a smoothie kick, or you blend some soups and sauces but can’t seem to get the carafe completely clean, this tip might help.
