Keep Makeup Brushes Healthier With Regular Cleaning

Over time, your makeup brushes get caked with remnants of old makeup, making them a breeding ground for bacteria that can cause breakouts or skin infections. Cleaning them properly every week helps prevent these potential problems, and it also makes them last much longer.

eHow shows us a simple, effective way to clean makeup brushes. First, run the brush under lukewarm water to dislodge all the makeup particles you can. Make sure the bristles are pointing down so you don’t get water up into the ferrule. Apply a drop or two or mild shampoo and swirl the bristles around against the palm of your hand. Rinse until no trace of the shampoo is left, then dry them on a clean towel. Reshape the brushes and lay them down to air dry for several hours.

You’ll be rewarded with nice, clean brushes that can last you for years. Hit up the full eHow post below for a more detailed look and some additional tips.
