Android: With Zikk installed on your Android device, you can remotely change the settings, download and remove apps, and add contacts on your tech-challenged friend or relative’s Android device. It’s brilliant.
Zikk gives you a unique ID and a nickname, which you can use to offer or ask for assistance. The recipient has to also have Zikk installed so you can connect with your respective IDs. Once that link is established, the expert can make a wide variety of changes and settings, including:
- Wi-Fi settings
- Display settings
- Sound volumes
- Battery save mode
- Favourite apps
- Location services
- Set wallpaper
- Set ringtone
- Create a reminder
- Add contacts
- Download apps
- Uninstall apps
- Turn Bluetooth on/off
- Share files
Once the expert is done, the recipient gets a notification with all the changes the expert is recommending and can choose whether or not to apply them. The whole thing is really easy and straightforward, almost fool-proof. However, the interface is kind of childish and off-putting.
I wish I had this app last week, when my Dad was travelling and needed assistance with a few things that I couldn’t explain over the phone. Zikk is the most impressive tool I have come across recently and the only flaw is its design. But functionality far outweighs form here. I’d recommend you set this up for every non-tech-savvy friend or family member.
