SidePlayer Adds Persistent, Gesture-Based Music Controls to Android

Android: SidePlayer gives you swipe-in playback controls for your favourite Android music player, on any screen or in any app, whenever you need them. If you want to skip or pause a track, swipe in from the side of the screen to reveal the controls, and swipe them out when you're finished.

Of course, you could just switch to your favourite music player and pause the playback manually, or pull down the notifications bar to switch tracks there. But if you want to switch apps just to skip forward, back, play or pause the song, and if your preferred player doesn't have notification bar controls, this app can fill the gap. SidePlayer is a lot like some of our favourite app switchers in that it's available all the time, on top of whatever app you're running. You just have to activate it with a gesture. Best of all, SidePlayer works with your current music player, so you don't have to use a new one just to get the benefit of the controls.

Right now, SidePlayer supports Google Play Music, Apollo Music, previously mentioned n7Player, and our favourite music player for Android, PowerAmp. It also supports tablets, which is where it really shines.

It's free over Google Play, although the free version locks you into the look and position of the playback controls. If you want to put them anywhere on the screen you want, customise the gestures, or change the look of the buttons with themes (check out the screenshots on Google Play to see some examples), $2 via in-app purchase gets you SidePlayer Pro.
