Rub Sugar Into Lemon Skins For Perfect Lemonade

Rub Sugar Into Lemon Skins For Perfect Lemonade

Food52 claims this is the best lemonade you will ever have, and all it takes is one little trick: rubbing sugar into your lemon skins before you make the syrup.

So grab a bowl and put your sugar in it. Hold the whole lemon over the bowl and start rubbing the sugar on it with your hands; the sugar should fall back into the bowl. By doing that, you kind of rub off all the essential oils from the lemon skin so it perfumes the sugar, Food52 says.

Then, roll the lemons on a wooden surface and squeeze the juice into a pitcher. In your sugar bowl, add hot water to make sugar syrup. Add the syrup to your lemon juice, chill and serve. While the video doesn’t tell you an exact amount, Food52’s other recipe for lemonade recommends a 1:1:1 ratio for water, sugar and lemon juice.
