It’s the week of the 2013 Lifehacker Awards! Our first category today is best airline. Who will fly away with the title?

Readers’ Choice: Virgin Australia

This was a close race, but Virgin Australia just pipped Qantas to the post. Innovations from the airline during the year have included streaming entertainment on domestic flights and a renewed emphasis on business customers.

Editor’s Pick: Qantas

Financial and operational challenges often keep Qantas in the headlines, but it pulled off a major change this year: its new alliance with Emirates. Routing flights through Dubai makes Europe much more accessible, and that alone scores it the Editor’s Choice award from me.

Thanks everyone for voting! Keep checking back throughout the week for more winners.
