We’re often trying to find shortcuts for learning new skills, making things, and getting everything done. Writer Albert Camus reminds us that none of those activities are a substitute for experience.

This week marks what would have been Camus’ 100th birthday, and the above quote is just as relevant today as when it was written. We tend to learn best by doing things for ourselves and often failing at them. If you’re avoiding any of those jobs for fear you can’t or because you’re evading failure, you’re not getting the education you really need.

Actually for some skills imagining them is just as good as doing them. Stuff like piano or darts for instance. Just imagining for a couple of minutes a day will do wonders for your performance.
