Web/Android/iOS: Springpad added some new features today, including notebook templates that give you a head start with specific lists for collections or anything else you need to organise. Springpad has also unveiled specific templates to help organise gift shopping, meal planning and movies.
Springpad’s notebooks have always been pretty easy to use — just clip any item you want into one and it’s there. The service is smart enough to know whether the item you’ve added to a notebook is a recipe (in which case it will include the ingredients and steps, and even find a wine pairing), a product, a book, a webpage, and so on.
Now you can start with notebook templates that are specifically designed for those types of things — so for example, the new Movies notebook will automatically organise films you drop into it into categories like “streaming” for movies online, or “in theatres” for movies currently showing or coming soon. Your “gift planning” notebook will do the same, and help you organise what you’ve purchased and for whom.
Similarly, the My Tasks notebook has gotten an overhaul so it works more like a traditional to-do list, a welcome update that’s easier to use on the desktop and on mobile devices. The video above does a good job at showing off the new features, and they’re all available now in the Springpad webapp and on mobile devices. If you’ve thought the whole process of creating and customising notebooks was a bit off putting and difficult to get into, today’s update should make it a little easier.
