Rapidly 'Wind' Your Cables For Tangle-Free Headphones

We already have an in-depth guide to wrapping headphones, but we're always open to new approaches. Corey Van Dyke offers up a tangle-free method we haven't seen before — and it's quite cool and incredibly easy.

First, hang your headphones so that the speakers and the plug are at the same level. Hold the two together in one hand, while holding the middle of the cord with your index finger. Wind your finger clockwise rapidly.

Now, fold it in half one more time — Van Dyke says the easiest way is by holding the centre of your doubled-up cord in your mouth. Now, holding this new centre with your hand, go counter-clockwise once and you're done.

It's better explained through the video than through words, so check out his short tutorial. As ever, We'd advise that you don't wrap them too tightly or the coiling may damage the wires inside the cables.

Yeah that guy can do that with his awesome Apple earbuds. Not sure I'll be winding my Sennheiser's that way thanks very much..

Yeah, not terribly effective for me. If I really want something to avoid being tangled, I stick with the over-under wrap, but for headphones, that's often more hassle than it's worth. Pouches tend to help, as it's less freedom of movement and less contact with moving things (pockets=bad)

    Braided cables are good.
