Bill Gates Kills Steve Ballmer On South Park: 'Weakness Is Believing That Competition Is Healthy' [NSFW]

This is emphatically a career advancement technique we do not recommend. Here's a clip from the current US series of South Park, depicting a violent confrontation between Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and founder Bill Gates. Not so much "Developers! Developers! Developers!" as "Disembowelment! Disembowelment! Disembowelment!"

Ballmer is due to depart Microsoft within the next few months. So this clip, set against the backdrop of the console wars, has no resemblance to reality — but it's amusing to watch.

So, like most Microsoft jokes, their idea of a Bill Gates parody is still stuck back in the late 90s. What makes it worse is that Family Guy's parody of Gates was not only made when he still had relevance to the way Microsoft was run but chose a topic whose relevance would last long enough that they didn't need to have a show with a short turnaround time to still be relevant once the show aired.

Also, if you need to make the target of your parody go back to a position they left almost two decades ago, both employment-wise and personality-wise, you should probably rethink your choice of parody.

i think you might be overreacting to this a little bit. its a joke, not meant to be taken seriously, anyone who has watched lots of south park would know that

I think that's what makes this funny, the idea that Bill Gates is behind the scenes making all the shadowy moves for Microsoft to (still) be one of those evil empires. That's so far away from reality, it's what makes it funny.

Well at least to those of us with a sense of humour.

alphamone seems to lack a sense of humor

I'm not sure if you knew this already or not, but all characters and events in that show -- even those based on real people -- are entirely fictional. All celebrity voices are impersonated... poorly. That program contains coarse language and due to its content it should not be viewed by anyone

I thought the Weiner song was the best part of the whole episode

I'd have thought Apple would provide Steve Ballmer with bodyguards - to keep him alive and screwing up Apple's biggest rival.

Ironically, Bill Gates has done more good in the time he's been away from Microsoft than he ever did when he was in charge... :)
