AWS Now Supports Cross-Region Read Replicas

Amazon RDS now allows users to set up read-only replicas in multiple regions: handy if you want to make sure users in a given area are accessing the nearest instance.

As Amazon’s announcement post notes, using this feature means you need to ensure you’re not suffering from “replication lag” between different databases. Hit the announcement for full details; the feature is live today.
