The HP JetDirect 2800w for FutureSmart Fleet has a name that only a deranged mother could love, but actually performs a useful function. Connected to a suitably recent HP printer, it enables printing from smartphones, tablets and notebooks via either Wi-Fi or NFC.
Priced at $99, the JetDirect 2800W can be connected to any of HP’s more recent FutureSmart-ready printer models (though a firmeware upgrade is also required). Printing over the Wi-Fi network from a notebook is supported directly; to print from a tablet or phone, you’ll need to install a suitable app (iOS, Android and Windows Phone are supported). Printing from mobiles is fiddly, so this is a potentially useful add-on.
