Walk down your supermarket’s oil aisle, and you’ll find that you have a surprising number of cooking oils to choose from. You don’t have to stick with just one oil. The Kitchn recommends keeping these three oils topped up for universal cooking and flavour needs.

The oils are: grapeseed oil (great for frying, with a high smoke point, but also with little flavour, so it works in mayonnaise and similar dishes), extra virgin olive oil (for dressings) and toasted sesame oil (for the flavour enhancement).
Of course, your favourites might vary, but these three oils are versatile enough to serve multiple cooking needs if you’re in doubt about what to have on hand.
